LED's ( Light Emitting Diode's ) are a solid state component which means they are extremely robust and can withstand heavy extrernal shock unlike traditional flourescent and incandescent bulbs which are very fragile. The lights are available in a range of sizes and colours to suit all types of decking structure.
Glossop Decking use high quality LED kits which are very competetively priced. All of the kits that we supply come complete with 10 x LED units, each with 5 metres of cable, 1 x junction box and 1 x mains plug in transformer complete with 10 metres of cable. Outdoor electrical equipment is rated according to a universal chart known as the IP rating ( Ingress Protection ) which consists of two digits.
The first digit is the degree of which equipment is protected against foreign bodies.
- 0 - No special protection
- 1 - Protection from a solid object greater than 50mm in diameter
- 2 - Protection from a solid object greater than 12mm in diameter.
- 3 - Protection from a solid object greater than 2.5mm in diameter.
- 4 - Protection from a solid object greater than 1mm in diameter.
- 5 - Protection against dust - limited ingress.
- 6 - Totally protected against dust.
The second digit is the degree of which equipment is protected against liquids.
- 0 - No protection
- 1 - Protected against vertically falling drops of water
- 2 - Protected against sprays of water upto 15 degrees from the vertical.
- 3 - Protected against sprays of water upto 60 degrees from the vertical.
- 4 - Protected against sprays of water from all directions - limited ingress.
- 5 - Protected against low pressure jets of water from all directions - limited ingress.
- 6 - Protected against high pressure jets of water from all directions - limited ingress.
- 7 - Protected against the effects of temporary immersion between 150mm and 1000mm
- 8 - Protected against the effects of long immersion under pressure.
The LED lights are IP66 rated, the junction box is IP44 rated and the mains plug in transformer is for internal use or where it is protected from the elements. The lens of the LED lights are manufactured from UV ( Ultra Violet ) hardened clear resin, which means they are extremely strong and can easily support the weight of the average adult, and the surrounds are made from stainless steel for ultimate corrosion resistance. The LED lights have an incredibly long life expectancy of upto 50,000 hours, which means if you switch on the lights for 6 hours every night they will last upto 22 years!
All lighting supplied by Glossop Decking is covered by a 12 months warranty covering manufacturing defects.
